On April 26, 2024, the launch meeting and implementation plan demonstration meeting of the National Key Research and Development Program of China, led by Shenzhen University, titled "Integrated Demonstration of High-Quality Processing and Full Resource Utilization Technology for Seafood", were successfully held at Shenzhen University. This national project was jointly undertaken by Shenzhen University and nine other universities and enterprises, such as Ocean University of China, Dalian Polytechnic University, Zhejiang Gongshang University, and Fuzhou University.
Professor Beiwei Zhu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Zhe Wang from Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology, Professor Xinquan Yang from Guangzhou University, Professor Zongcai Tu, vice-chancellor of Nanchang University, Professor Shanggui Deng, the Dean of the School of Food and Pharmary of Zhejiang Ocean University, Professor Laihao Li from South China Sea Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, and Professor Xiaoxi Li from South China University of Technology were invited as special experts to attend the kickoff meeting. Professor Hui Zhou, the vice-chancellor of Shenzhen University, Yanbing Wang from deputy general manager of Guangdong Shinyee Marine Co., Ltd., and other leading experts and representatives of over 50 members attended this meeting. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Cuihua Li, secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, and the project report and expert comments were hosted by Professor Zhe Wang.
Hui Zhou, vice-chancellor of Shenzhen University, delivered a speech, warmly welcoming all the leaders and experts for their attendance. He emphasized that Shenzhen University, as the leading unit of this national project, will provide full support for this research project. Professor Xiuping Dong, as the project director, provided a detailed introduction of the research aims, plans, contents, and expected outcomes. The project aimed to break through the key scientific and technical bottlenecks in the field of seafood processing and industrial production.
At this meeting, the invited experts made valuable comments and suggestions on the overall planning and implementation of the project in terms of the research contents, condensation of scientific outcomes, and product transformation and application. Professor Beiwei Zhu expressed a great appreciation to all the experts for their valuable guidance and suggestions and emphasized the optimization of the implementation plan following their suggestions. All project units were expected to cooperate sincerely and work together to ensure the realization of high-efficiency, high-quality completion of the project, and strive to write a new chapter in the high-quality development of seafood processing.
